Tenants Forum

The Tenant Service’s Authority was launched on the 1st December 2008 following Professor Caves “Every Tenant Matters Review” 2007 and The Housing and Regeneration Act 2008. From the 1st April 2010 the regulation of all social landlords in England will have a common set of standards that will apply to local authority, housing associations, or other forms of providers. The regulation is based on the following, which they consider fundamental in achieving good standards:

Ensuring a fair deal for tenants

Protecting taxpayers and other funders of social housing

Being a modern and effective regulator

Co-regulation can best support lasting service delivery improvement if both housing providers and tenants have a sense of ownership of the regulatory framework. The new regulation framework ensures that providers will involve their tenants and hold themselves open to scrutiny by them.

The Society, following a series of tenant consultation and tenant working groups, has established a Tenant Forum. A set of service standards, standing orders and terms of reference have been agreed and ratified by the Board.

The Tenants Forum will ensure that the Society is meeting the regulator’s standards as well as the agreed local offers. We consider this a very interesting time for the Society with several new housing developments underway, but we must all ensure, board directors , staff and tenants, that a high level of service is maintained to our existing tenants and properties.

If you are interested in joining our Tenants Forum please complete the online form or contact the office for more information.
