On Thursday 12th January, South Western Housing Society was delighted to welcome guests to the opening of their new purpose built and energy efficient offices in Rooksbridge. Invited guests included representatives of Sedgemoor District Council, North Somerset Council and Mid Devon Council.
The Chair of the Society’s Board of Directors, Anne Robinson, welcomed everyone and informed guests that the Society, in its previous incarnation as the South Western Co-operative Housing Society, has been in existence since the 1940’s and one of its first land acquisitions was in Bridgwater. There are therefore historic links with this part of the country and relocation of the offices, plus the building of six affordable homes on the site, will strengthen the bond and affirm the Society’s commitment to the provision of affordable housing in the South West. Congratulations were expressed to BBA Architects, who designed the building and Halsall Construction, who carried out the building works.
